Last Friday was so busy I neglected to highlight a favorite local holiday shopping option for #FavoriteFriday. I won’t let running a couple days behind keep me from sharing one of my favorite Triangle shopping experiences… and it’s an experience indeed – Southern Season!
If you’ve never set foot in Southern Season, a) get ready to be overwhelmed (but in a good way) and b) make sure you have plenty of time for browsing. There’s coffee to drink, and food to sample, and dinner to take home for tonight. There are specialty food items to buy, spices you’ve never heard of, an ice cream counter, and every kitchen gadget you can imagine. Shopping isn’t limited to kitchen gadgets either. There are so many gift options, from Vera Bradley to fine china. And quite honestly, that list barely skims the surface.
If all that shopping leaves you hungry, make sure to check out The Weathervane. Delicious soups, sandwiches, specials, and desserts are available in this full service restaurant in the Chapel Hill location. My family actually hosted my Bridal Luncheon at the Weathervane a couple years ago and it proved to be a great option for a luncheon with the gals.
Southern Season’s original “flagship” store is in Chapel Hill, NC at University Mall. Trust me Raleigh kids, it’s worth the trip down 40-West. That being said, they’ve opened a shop at Cameron Village over the holidays that they’re calling “A Taste of a Southern Season.” It’s much smaller than the Chapel Hill store, but carries a sampling of Southern Season’s vast assortment of local, regional, hard to find, and international delicacies. I’ll admit I haven’t checked it out yet, but it sounds like a great spot to pick up a quick NC themed goodie to take to your family’s Christmas gathering. Southern Season also has stores in Charlotte, NC, Richmond, VA, and Charleston, SC.
One of my favorite features of Southern Season is their customized gift baskets. When I was fundraising, a NC-themed gift basket from Southern Season was a favorite “Thank You” gift for out of town celeb-status speakers headlining our fundraising events. You simply can’t go wrong sharing NC’s goodness with an out-of-towner. Visit Southern Season online to order gift baskets and countless other treats and gifts.
Okay, I’m hungry now! Happy Shopping!
